Using 2 RTS panels with 1 Headset

Following a request that came from site, this is a good example of the functionality of the RTS OMNEO panels.

An intercom user was using two KP-5032 panels and wanted access to 64 keys.  Using shift pages was not acceptable to them, as they needed all keys to be displayed at once.

It is possible to link two panels to a single headset by following the procedure below.

To use the mic signal of the first panel on the second panel:

  • Make the main panel’s mic a hot mic
  • Make a Dante route from OMNEO channel 1 of panel 1 to OMNEO channel 2 of panel 2.
  • Make a routing in the audio mixer of panel 2 to receive OMNEO 2 and send it to “To Matrix”

Now you can talk to both panels using the mic/headset on panel 1.

For listening you use the speakers and separate volume knobs.

If you want to use a headset on panel 1 then you need to route the listen signals of panel 2 to panel 1’s headset

  • In the audio mixer of panel 2 route “Matrix In” to OMNEO channel 2
  • Use Dante controller, route channel 2 of panel 2 to channel 2 of panel 1
  • In the audio mixer of panel 1 route OMNEO channel 2 to “Front Headset (Left)” and “Front Headset (Right)”

Wow, there you have it. Special thanks to Ronald de Kruif at RTS.
