Using a Glensound Inferno Commentator Box with ODIN

The Inferno does not have a physical connection to the ODIN frame and should be treated as a series of 4-wire channels routed to the ODIN using DANTE Controller.

The Glensound Inferno is not an OMNEO device but it is powered by DANTE and as such can be used with ODIN.

Up to seven talkback channels can be assigned in addition to the ON AIR channel. These channels are received at the designated ODIN ports and are available for routing within the intercom as well as out to external sources.

Inferno functionality

All of the channel and key behaviour functions are controlled using the web interface for the inferno. This can be accessed by browsing to the unit’s IP address or DNS page. You can find the IP address in DANTE Controller. The DNS address is http://inferno000xxx/ where xxx is the three digit serial number printed next to the mains port on the rear of the unit.

ON AIR functionality.

There is no direct analogue output so channel 8 of Inferno can be routed to the destination directly or in the example using Coventry Judo, to port 35 of ODIN using DANTE Controller.

Routing audio to an external destination.

We have used the IFB table to route the audio rather than forcing a crosspoint closed in the crosspoint table, either method would work.

The talkback channels are handled similarly with DANTE Controller routing each to an ODIN port.

Intercom users can have a key to these channels or these ports can talk and listen to a partyline.
