Setting the WAN IP of the UniFi Security Gateway

The UniFi system is a cloud managed service where all settings are controlled by the UniFi Controller. To access these settings all the Ubiquiti devices need access to the internet, meaning the Security Gateway must be online.  Once it is online, all other devices will be able to contact the Controller

Normally the WAN 1 of the Security Gateway will be set to DHCP so will be issued an address by the venue’s network.  If the venue has allocated you a static IP address, you will need set this manually.

Open a web browser and navigate to 10.1.100.1 (depending on the devices configuration you may need to plug in a UniFi switch to get onto the management VLAN)
Log in using the standard CT credentials.
Select Configuration from the left hand menu .

By default the WAN port will be set to DHCP. Should you have a static IP address from the venue, change DHCP to Static. Complete all the fields with at least one DNS server.  These details should also have been given to you by the venue.

The venue may give you the subnet mask in CIDR form where the subnet is noted as a number after a forward slash (172.16.2.8/29).  You can convert this format in this table.

Apply the changes at the bottom of the screen. After a few seconds the gateway should report that it is now online
