Riello UPS VSD 3000 Alarm / Fault Codes

Riello UPS report faults and alarms using a code on their display. The codes can be found here.

Alarm / Fault codes

For the following alarm/fault codes:

  • Anomalies: these are “minor” problems which do not cause the lock of the UPS but reduce performance or prevent certain functions from being used: A06, A08, A54, A61, A62, A63
  • Active commands: Indicates the presence of an active remote command: C01, C02, C03, C04
  • Alarms: these are more critical problems than anomalies because, if they persist, they could cause the UPS to lock in a very short time: F04, F05, F07, F38, F50, F51, F52, F53, F60
  • LOCK alerts are normally preceded by an alarm signal and their scale leads to the powering-off of the inverter with the load being powered by the bypass line (this procedure is excluded for locks due to serious, persistent overloads and short circuits): L04, L05, L07, L11, L13, L20, L21, L40, L41, L42, L43, L51, L52, L53

The UPS has a USB port on it where working tolerances can be adjusted.
The common one needed is to the permitted incoming frequency of the mains, especially when on generator power.
If the frequency deviates too far from 50Hz, the UPS will kick over to battery.
With the USB port and the software below, you can increase its tolerance to ±5Hz.

F60 – Battery overvoltage; case happened when we swapped old with new batteries, it’s required to put some load on the UPS for few minutes so it empties the batteries and then it will operate as normal.

If you find that voltage is fluctuating (usually from generators) UPS won’t allow to be switched on, it will stand still in standby mode, there won’t be particular fault code, you can see a stand by/alarm icon and voltage on the front display only.
From manual: The UPS is operating from the battery despite the presence of mains voltage – The input voltage is outside the permitted tolerance range for mains operation
Problem with the mains. Wait until the input mains voltage returns within the tolerance range. The UPS will automatically return to mains operation.
