When Artist CPU cards are used as a redundant pair, the card in slot A applies settings to the card in slot B which makes it difficult to reset as it constantly tries to take over the frame if the cards are moved around. The process isn’t difficult but not following it mean you find you constantly have old configurations on your frame. Following these instructions will remove all the card configurations and set you back to a completely blank configuration.
Ensure you only have a CPU card in slot A (right-hand slot as you look at the front). Remove the CPOU card from slot B if you need to. Client cards can stay in place.
At the bottom of the card, recessed about 3cm, is a reset button. Press and hold this button until all the LEDs illuminate. This will clear the configuration and reset the card’s IP address to 192.168.42.100.
Remove this card and set it to one side.
Insert the second CPU card into slot A and repeat the process. This time leave the card in slot A.
Open the Director software and navigate to Settings -> IP Address of Local Node. Enter the IP address of 192.168.42.100 and check the “This is an Artist node with a redundant controller card” box.
Checking this box tells the system that the card you are about to put in slot B is a redundant card and that the CPU in slot A should set this cards IP address and send the config to this card. If you haven’t followed the process and haven’t reset both cards, when you insert the un-reset card into slot B, it will see a reset card in slot A and force its old config onto the card you reset in slot A.
On the back of the frame, connect the the HDLC ports together using the correct cable. This is not a standard cable, details can be found here
Insert the other reset CPU card into slot B.
In the Director software, select File -> New to create a new Workspace. Right click in the empty workspace and select Add Node. Select the style of frame you have.
Once added, right click on the new node and select Properties. It is necessary to set one node os a system to be Ring Clock Master. In the properties windows check the “Set Ring Clock Master to” and the “Enabled”. Click Send Changes to apply this to the CPU cards.
You now have a completely blank system so can build you configuration as required.
