Powering On The Volume

This guide explains how to safely turn on the LED panels in the Volume.

Powering on the Generators:

The Volume is powered by two diesel generators located in the car park outside. The generators are set up to synchronize; therefore, it’s crucial to follow the steps below in order.

1. Obtain the key to unlock the control panel door on the generators. The key is located in the lighting desk (Yellow Tag Labelled Generators).
2. Turn on the larger generator first:
   • Use the key to open the control panel door.
   • Turn the power switch – the generator should light up.
     
   • 
   • Press “AUTO” – the generator should start up like a car engine.
   • 
   • Wait for the countdown to hit 0 (with a click and thud noise) and lights to go green before powering on the second smaller generator.
   • 
3. Turn on the second smaller generator:
   • Unlock the second smaller generator control panel door.
   • Turn the power switch – the generator should light up.
   • Press “AUTO” – the generator should start up like a car engine.
   • Wait for the countdown to hit 0 (with a click and thud noise) and lights to go green before closing and locking the door.
4. Lock the first generator door and return the keys to the lighting desk.

Powering on the LED Screens:

Ensure the generators are on before turning on the Volume.

Behind the ARRI Camera recording Screen (Front Screen), there are two switch box towers that turn on the LEDs. The switches are all labeled. Turn on all the ones for the Volume. The lights should go green when turned on.
