How to Re Image a Machine with Macrium

CT uses Macrium Reflect to reimage its Laptop’s and Hi Spec machines in the field. The Images for every machine are stored locally on a partition called ‘Image Store’. Imaging is completed from within Windows initially and then via a fully automated boot PE environment called ‘Macrium Reflect’

Mount the Hidden Partition containing the Image Data

Right click on the start menu and select Disk Management. Right click on the Partition named ‘Image Store’ and select ‘Change Drive letter and Path’ Click Add and Click ok.

Open Macrium from the start menu and click the Restore tab.

From the Restore window choose ‘Restore Image’

Now Macrium will show you what it wants to do. It should look like the image below with a grey area where the ‘Image Store’ is on the drive. This means that it will not touch the image store during the process. Click Next.

Click Finish on this screen to start the process .

You will now get an ‘unable to lock drive’ warning. Click ‘Run From Windows PE’ at which point the machine will ask to reboot. Click ‘Restart Now’ to restart the machine and complete the process.

Once the Macrium process has completed you will need to remove the letter that was added to the ‘Image Store’ partition in the earlier steps. This is done by navigating to Disk Management, right clicking on Image Store partition then clicking ‘Change Drive Letters and Paths’ then clicking ‘Remove’. You may encounter an error as below. Click Yes to ignore.
