The latest MacBook Pro’s (2017 onwards) come with power supply units that plug into the wall directly (pic 1) these have been known to cause earthing issues. We have rectified this with our hire fleet by adding the extension cable between wall socket and PSU (pic 2) But for subbed gear it may be worth checking and should be on the KB to get this issue more widely known.
Issues seen have included a weird spike that knocks out all the Thunderbolt enabled ports until a rebook. (lost a keynote presentation output)
